Day 4

Relatively uneventful as compared to days 1-3.  We got to sleep in, some.  Got to walk around and pick up rocks.  Once daily ablutions were done, we hit the road.

We stopped in Santa Fe to see the Blue Hole.  Lovely spot.  Ginger, Milo and Abigail got to walk down the steps into the water and drink.  They loved it, but I think the water level went down by a good inch when they were done.  I think they were a bigger attraction than the hole.

On to Albuquerque where I think we found the very last Waffle House heading west on the 40.  It was bittersweet.  Denise got me hooked the other day and we’ve had breakfast there every day.  Ok lunch today.

It was such a beautiful day to travel, we put all the windows down to give the dogs some cool air.  It went from 50 degrees in Tucumcari to 70 degrees before we left.  And on the road, it got really hot, so we were happy to be able to open the windows and let some refreshing cool air in.

Tonight, we are staying in Gallup NM.  Tomorrow we are headed for Kingman AZ where we will stay for 2 nights.  We are hoping to see the south side of the Grand Canyon from a place Paul and I discovered years ago.  The overlook is on an Indian Reservation where they built the Ski Walk.  We considered taking the walk on the glass bridge, but at 68 bucks a pop, I think we will be overlooking the canyon from a different vantage point.
