Day 34 & 35

Redding, CA - June 18 & 19, 2024

My Cousin Cindy took me to the Shasta Caverns.  Oh my word!  She told me how many steps we took, after we got back.  Over 600 in the Cavern and then down from the gift shop to the shore, across the lake on a patio boat and then up the other side to a bus waiting to take us up 800 feet in 1.5 miles to the cavern entrance.  In total, about a bazillion stair steps!

Here are some professional images:  Shasta Cavern Images

The ones below are mine. Thank you, Cindy, for taking the time off to take me through these caverns.  Wasn’t on my bucket list until today, and now I can check it off.

I’m sure Cindy wondered what I was thinking, because usually I’m saying what I’m thinking.  It was fantastic.  I on the other hand was winded, exhausted and overwhelmed by the beauty.

It took me 20 minutes after we got back in the car to catch my 2nd wind.  Then I talked her ear off…

After dinner, Cindy took me by her place to show me her rock collection.  Got to meet Dennis!  He demonstrated the use of the zip line he put up in his back yard.

On the 19th,  I got my truck serviced.  Last year, Mom and I had hit the 5000-mile mark in Redding as well. We stayed in the same park and it was a wonderful experience!  There is a family owned machanic shop just as you enter the park and so, we had the truck serviced there last year.  Very convenient and a lovely family.

While waiting for the service to be completed, the kids and I were having a quiet day in the trailer.  It was a nice peaceful morning.  UNTIL the park manager called.  Keep in mind this was the 3rd perceived infraction in the same number of days.  She had turned off the water to the trailer because there was a leak, Milo heard her and barked.  10 minutes later, she was on the phone telling me the dogs could not be in the trailer if I wasn’t here.  I was there, but she wanted to argue.  She assumed I was gone because the truck was gone.  Yadda, yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah.  Looking forward having this place behind me.

Have you ever had to work with a community historical society?  Paul and I referred to them as the hysterical society.  This woman would have fit right in.  Yikes!!!

Happily, Madilyn, Cindy and Denis were willing to have all 4 of us at their house for dinner.  The kids stayed outside.  Madilyn has a beautiful backyard and the kids explored while we had pizza inside. After dinner, Cindy took us over to her place to see her rock collection. Yikes!!! That is a lot of rocks!!! We also met Denis who demonstrated his Zip Line.

It was a wonderful evening.
