Day 19

6/2/2025 - No tacos for us today. So sad…

But it was a great day with Charlie and Shiela.  They took us to Mud Springs.  The biggest collection of stuff I’ve seen in a long time.  I kept finding things to ask about, but my multitasking skills aren’t what they used to be, so by the time my mental list got to #4, I lost #1.  And so-on until I had to carry the things I wanted to ask about so I wouldn’t forget them.  I ended up with a little ceramic bird bath/feeder and a rusted-out metal sun.  Love it.

Denise ended up with a picture of an Eagle’s head, made of inlaid wood of different types and a balsa wood hanging cat.  Looks like he’s taking a leap through the air.  Can’t wait for Missy and Forest to see that one.  We had to hide it from Milo, or it would be splinters.

They also took us through many wonderful shops in downtown Placerville.  There was an antique store where I found a teapot shaped like a bird.  At another shop Denise found a beautiful sterling silver ring with her birthstone in it.  Green is her favorite color, and she had a peridot ring on her bucket list for this trip.  Mission accomplished!

Charlie and Shiela bought me the most beautiful canvas purse with a sunflower on it.  I’m all moved in and ready for our next adventure.

Charlie and Shiela came back with us to our campsite and hung out with us for a while.  They are considering an RV themselves and this was the 1st time Shiela had a chance to look at ours.  With 3 dogs and 2 thrifters living in this trailer, it’s not the neatest place in the world, but at least Abigail was on her best behavior, Wahoo!

We took a nap, Denise had Ginger on her bed, while I was sandwiched between Abigail and Milo in the bunk.  Then Denise, apparently not sleeping, came over and said let’s go to the Red Hawk Casino for their buffet!  She didn’t have to me ask twice!  Milo & Ginger in their cages, Abigail on the bunk, and away we go!

After dinner, prime rib, oysters, shrimp, and salad Denise put $20 into her first machine and came back with $362.  WOW!  I also hit it big at $62.  I played it all back and that was it for me… But I got this bright idea to go to all the slots in the place looking for credits on each machine.  I kept coming back to Denise with my tickets and we laughed.  I think I came up with 15 tickets all in all containing all of $.75.  But I was entertained!!!

At one point, Denise was a bit concerned about me because she couldn’t find me.  Like dust in the wind, I was gone.

That was a great day!!!
